Spring – 2 0 2 5

The SS 2025 season brings in a form of strength in its silhouettes, color ways and textures. Black corded foral lace is used throughout the collection in malleable silhouettes, with corseted details. A contrasting milky stretch jacquard lace is overlaid over horsehair “hymo” fabric to create an impending structure to the collection. Both embracing the strength and beauty of a woman’s femininity that transcends many forms and facets, while  embracing her varied personality. Similarly seen on a handful of men’s garments are the same laces, and fabrics to only highlight the equality between both entities, in a factual and visual way.

A form of bows are seen throughout several garments made out of natural human hair to sprinkle in the Kazakh heritage of hair braiding as a form of the feminine embodiment, as well as a form of control for the woman historically in Meruert’s home culture. A beautiful aspect to it’s history, yet a feminist statement in its form, adorning bottoms of skirts and blouses.

In many ways the collection is darker and moodier, but with purpose and soul to carry the season through while working on its previous counterparts to supplement and uplift its previous design stories.

Fall – 2 0 2 4

Meruert Tolegen welcomes you into her Fall 2024 season, in a moment of reflection, grounding and connection to the inner self and the world around us. A journey through time and the essence of life, nature and humanity coming together.

Meruert explores the creation of a floral print together with AI tools, resembling the tangled world around us, as we drift through life and existence searching for our sense of self. Connection of art through its emblematic sense synonymous with nature in its broad meaning, and it’s biology, is seen
in the print and and blocking of fabrics.

A soothing color way is chosen throughout the collection in earth tones and splashes of color, blending fabrics and textures together to create a synergy between the clean lines and raw finishes of garments.

Textures and florals are explored in a variety of mediums, from print to weave to appliqué, not ignoring construction and inner detailing of the garments, and creating balance and equilibrium. Throughout the collection Meruert reminds us to recall the quirky details of the brand and its whimsical essence in its deliverance, and storytelling.

Spring – 2 0 2 4

With a commitment to innovation and creativity, Meruert Tolegen unveils a collection that showcases a harmonious fusion of organic elements, and intricate textures. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal dance of leaves, the delicate ripples of water, and the intricate textures found in flora and fauna, this season pays homage to the natural world.

Meruert Tolegen’s dedication to craftsmanship is applied throughout the collection, where nature-inspired prints, intricate embroidery, and luxurious textures come together in harmony. In the new season Meruert applies AI technology to assemble prints under her creative direction and design, embracing innovation and applying it in the creative process. The print details unveil the “swans of Truman” – figures in dresses with swan heads for arms, with a nod to playful oblivion of the brands nature, surrounded by shrubs and brush stroke florals.

From flowing silhouettes that mimic the sway of branches to textural details that evoke the feel of floral fields, this collection captures the essence of the natural world enveloped and stitched into fabric.

The tactile sensations, the visual feast of carefully curated patterns, and the emotional connection evoked by every piece will invite you to embrace the inherent beauty of our world. This Spring/Summer season, Meruert Tolegen continues to evolve and build on her brand identity and previous seasons, while bringing more color and exploring new techniques. With a vision rooted in artistic expression, the brand’s latest collection explores its nomadic roots and unveils them within its textural compositions.

Fall – 2 0 2 3

Throughout the Fall | Winter 2023 season Meruert Tolegen carries in a new wave of feelings and emotions, tying them to the nostalgic feeling of time passing. Each piece is created with a depth of emotions experienced through time, conveying a recourse of experience through textures and overlays. Meruert works to create a selection of garments in mixed media using techniques to layer materials and combine them together throughout the pattern. She brings in pleating and fabric manipulation, and ties it in throughout the collection, composing a symphony where each garment plays onto the next. Florals and color appear in the FW 23 season in hues of dusty pink and warm nude. They are woven into a tapestry of the mixed media coat, while the colorful hues find themselves as garment details as well as full pieces.

Spring – 2 0 2 3

Meruert Tolegen brings her Spring | Summer 2023 collection in through hues, and colors of memories she carried through childhood. Living in the city of Almaty during her youth, sitting against a large window facing the mountains which surrounded one side of the city, she would draw, and watch the gardens bloom. Meruert spent her summer days picking sour cherries to be made into jam and syrup, and watching the summer storms pelt through the grass. Fragments of these memories are depicted on the satin fabrics printed with pomegranates and wild flowers, a dragonfly crosses your path ever so often. Hand knit garments make a gentle appearance in the collection with crochet details and play on trims. “If one were to close their eyes, and try remembering the textures of their memories what would one find?” A rippled fabric covered orange chair, with a sleek wooden frame. Creases in the leather couch that once stood near the lemon tree in the sitting room. A silky, transparent curtain blowing into the open window. These textures are realized in the spongy embroidered fabric cut into an over coat. They are felt in the creased silk blend dress, in the translucent organza silhouettes captured in their still. A memory depicted through fabric and its silhouette, bottled into a single garment, brought to life with movement. Ones memories are the very fiber of their being, a blueprint of life. Meruert attempts to capture these moments and recreate them in the SS 23 spread. SS 23 is dedicated to her late grandfather Toleutay Tolegenovich.
